Today the only reason that flares are installed on landfills is to comply with environmental requirements and as a last resort to prevent low-grade methane gas from being freely released into the atmosphere.
Burning the low-grade methane does produce CO2 which is also damaging – but 20 x less so. Unfortunately flaring was the only option…until the development of our GasBox.

This diagram makes interesting reading as it compares how much CO2 is released into the environment from the various options available to the owners of closed landfill sites. Clearly the installation of a GasBox comes out top both in terms of saving our environment – and enabling compliance with regulations.
